First Lady Oluremi Tinubu honoured with ‘Ugo Eze Anambra’ Chieftaincy Title

Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has been conferred with the chieftaincy title of Ugo Eze Anambra, as appreciation for her contributions to national development.
The title, which means “the glory of the king” or “a Royal Eagle,” was bestowed on her during her one-day working visit to the state on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
She was reportedly decorated with the title by the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
The honour came a day after the First Lady was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Oso Di Eme I of Imo State, meaning “She who supports her husband,” during her visit to Imo State on September 9, 2026.
Her visit to Anambra State also saw the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East Zone, a component of the Renewed Hope Initiative.
The Food programme is reportedly designed to cushion the effects of economic hardship on vulnerable Nigerians by providing essential food assistance. It specifically targets groups such as widows, the elderly, persons with disabilities, nursing mothers, and young children.
Another highlight of the visit was the commissioning of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)-sponsored ICT Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
The facility is reportedly expected to further enhance digital learning and expand access to technology-driven opportunities across the country.
