Burna Boy tops Spotify’s Global Music Video Chart with hit song ‘Dai Dai’, becomes first male singer to achieve feat

​Burna Boy also set a new record as the African artist with the highest number of monthly listeners on YouTube Music, surpassing 600 million.

​Afrobeats singer and songwriter Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has attained another milestone after becoming the first male artiste in history to reach number one on Spotify’s Global Music Video Chart.

​The Grammy Award-winning artist achieved the feat after his World Cup song with Shakira, ‘Dai Dai’, topped the newly launched chart.

​Apart from being the first male singer to reach the mark, the 35-year-old Nigerian is also the first African artist to achieve the milestone.

​Meanwhile, the 2026 World Cup anthem also reached a new peak of number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week.

​‘Dai Dai’ is now projected to enter the top 10 next week following Burna Boy and Shakira’s performance during the World Cup Final half-time show on Sunday.

​The track also remains the most-streamed music video of 2026 on YouTube with almost half a billion views. In addition, it recently peaked at number one on the Apple Music Global Songs Chart.

​Following the song’s success, Burna Boy extended his record as the African artist with the most monthly listeners in Spotify’s history, reaching over 53 million listeners.
