Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has won the English Premier League (EPL) Player of the Season award.
He beat Arsenal’s David Raya, Gabriel and Declan Rice, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, Brentford’s Igor Thiago, and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White to claim the award.
The Portugal midfielder, who earlier this month won the Football Writers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year award, equalled the record for assists in a Premier League season when setting up his 20th goal against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
With this feat, he equals the record for the most assists in a single campaign, jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

He has also scored eight goals in 37 games to help United secure third place and qualification for the UEFA Champions League (UCL).
The 31-year-old is the first Red Devils player to receive the highly coveted honour since Nemanja Vidić in the 2010–11 season.
He joins United legends such as Peter Schmeichel, Dwight Yorke, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidić.
Fernandes will be hoping to break the record with one more assist when United travel to Brighton for their final game of the season on Sunday.
