BREAKING: Abducted  Channels TV reporter, Rogers regains freedom

Rogers was kidnapped on Thursday night at about 9 pm after he was trailed to his residence at Rumuosi in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers

The Channels Television reporter, Joshua Rogers, who was abducted in Rivers State on Thursday has regained his freedom.

TheNiche earlier reported that Rogers was kidnapped at about 9 pm after he was reportedly trailed to his residence at Rumuosi in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The gunmen accosted him at gunpoint, whisked him away in his car and later  contacted his wife, demanding N30 million as ransom.

A few hours after the incident, the kidnap of the reporter went viral on social media, with different groups calling for his unconditional release.

However,  after spending a day in the den of the kidnappers, he has now regained his freedom from captivity.

He was said to have been released around 10pm on Friday.

One of his colleagues with Channels TV in Port Harcourt, Charles Oporum, confirmed his release on Friday.

“Yes, he has been released. He was released about an hour ago, and he has reunited with his family,” Oporum said.

Also announcing his release, the management of the television station, in a short statement said: 

Channels Television reporter, Joshua Rogers, who was abducted last night in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has been freed.

“We thank our viewers and all those who expressed concern over the unfortunate incident.”

It is not clear if any ransom was paid for his release.

He was, however, sighted at the residence of his elder brother with other family members and friends singing praises unto God.
