Mustapha noted that as a founding father of APC, he could not walk away from the party he helped to form.

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha, has described reports that he has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), for the opposition coalition, African Democratic Congress (ADC) as “fake news”
He made this known on Sunday in a statement he made available to journalists.
Mustapha, who served as SGF from 2017 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari, insisted that the news is not true.
He also stressed that he has not engaged in any discussions with members of the opposition or their coalition partners.
He said, “My attention has been drawn to a news story in circulation associating me with the opposition alliance and their choice of the ADC as their political party.
“I want the general public to know that this is fake news. I am not in any opposition alliance, and I am not in any discussion with those who are involved.”
He also said he’s a principal founding father of the APC, adding that he could not walk away from the party he helped to form.
According to him, while the APC, like any political organisation, has its challenges, the solution is to work from within rather than defect to another platform.
He, therefore, called on the public to disregard any speculation suggesting otherwise.
In July, Mustapha faulted a widely held claim that one individual made Buhari the president in the 2015 election.
Speaking at the unveiling of a book, “According to the President: Lessons from a Presidential Spokesperson’s Experience”, witten by Garba Shehu, the former SGF claimed Buhari already had over 12 million existing votes, adding that the merger of the legacy parties brought in only three million votes.
