The four Benue lawmakers were suspended from their legislative duties for six months.

The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four legislators for six months over allegation that they attempted to impeach the Speaker, Hon. Aondona Dajoh on Thursday night.
They are member representing Makurdi North, Alfred Berger, his Kian state constituency counterpart, Terna Shimawua, Cyril Ekong of Obi state constituency, and James Umoru, representing Apa state constituency.
On Friday, the Majority Leader, Saater Tiseer, in a motion of urgent importance, moved for the suspension of the four lawmakers, after accusing them of attempting to cause a needless crisis in the state assembly.
Following the motion, the Speaker directed the Sergeant at Arms to lead the suspended lawmakers out of the chambers.

Dajoh in addition, appointed Audu Elias as the new spokesperson of the House, following the suspension of Berger, who had held the position.
Earlier, TheNiche reported that Benue State Government dismissed trending reports on social media that the State governor, Hyacinth Alia, attempted to remove the Speaker of the 10th State House of Assembly, Dajoh.
In a statement issued by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media, Comr. Asortar James Asortar, the government said the assertions are not true.
It added, “The efforts by certain media factions to disseminate misinformation are nothing more than blatant lies intended to create confusion within Benue state.”
