The resolution was sequel to a motion moved by Hon Taribina Ebiye, who represents Kolokuma/ Opokuma Constituency 1 on the urgent need to call on the NDDC to prevail on the contractors handling the piling /shore protection projects in Okoloba and Sabagriea towns in Kolokuma /Opokuma Local Government Area.

Moving the motion, Taribina stated that the eco-system as a result of the global warming, constant rainfall and severe flooding have affected the area and further caused landslide and erosion which has become perennial problem.

He said that the effect of the several years of flooding has become a serious challenge, which according to him, has washed off houses, roads linking the communities farmlands, economic trees, among others.

Supporting the motion, Salo  Adikumo and Hon. EBI Ben Ololo  regretted that abandonment has become synonymous with the NDDC, calling into question the objective of creating the interventionist agency.

Also in favour of the motion, Honorables Tonye Isenah and Daniel Igali averred that the NDDC has become more of a political than developmental, adding that though they are not answerable to the state, there is need to interface as parts of their oversight functions.
