Bandits kidnap 25 female students in Kebbi, kill vice principal

Bandits have killed the Vice Principal of Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Hassan Makuku, and kidnapped 25 students during a late-night attack in the Maga community of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, Kebbi State.

The assailants reportedly invaded the school on Sunday night, shooting Makuku as he attempted to shield students from harm before whisking several schoolgirls away.

Local sources said the vice principal was targeted while trying to protect the students amid the chaos.

The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the attack on Monday, noting that 25 students were taken by the gunmen.

Meanwhile, Governor Nasir Idris has directed his deputy, Umar Tafida, to visit the school and evaluate the situation.

According to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, Tafida was sent to represent the governor, who is currently outside the state.
