Arsene Wenger hails France star, Olivier Giroud

Arsene Wenger had a 22-year spell with North London club, Arsenal between 1996 and 2018 and signed Oliver Giroud from Montpellier in 2012

Ex-Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has praised France striker, Olivier Giroud, for what he has achieved so far in his career, saying “We must kneel before his career”

Arsene Wenger made the remark while speaking about the 34-year-old former Gunner striker on French TV channel TF1.

According to the legendary manager, it is important to give plaudits to Giroud, who now plays for AC Milan given what he has achieved in his career, knowing he did not start from the top.

Giroud recently equalled Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry’s France’s all-time top goal scorer record of 51 goals for the France national team.  

The former Chelsea forward, who now has the opportunity to break the record, scored a brace as France came from behind to beat Australia 4-1 in a World Cup opener in Qatar.

Wenger said, “We must kneel before the career that he has had. 

“Absolutely nothing was given to him.”

Arsene Wenger had a 22-year spell with North London club, Arsenal between 1996 and 2018 and signed Oliver Giroud from French club, Montpellier, in 2012. 

The France international went on to score 73 goals for the Gunners in  180 appearances in all competitions before moving to another Premier side, Chelsea in 2018.
