An armed robbery suspect, Godswill Achili, who was caught wearing a military uniform while operating on the Abuja-Keffi Road and parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been arrested by the police.
Nasarawa Police Command spokesperson Ramhan Nansel confirmed that Achili was apprehended by officers from Angwan Lambu Police Division, Keffi, during an intelligence-driven operation.
Nansel disclosed that during questioning, Achili admitted to impersonating a soldier and engaging in armed robbery.
According to the police, investigation shows that the suspect was part of a criminal syndicate that preys on unsuspecting victims, mainly students and youths travelling between Keffi, New Karu, and the FCT.
The gang, using a black, unregistered Toyota Avalon, deceives victims before robbing them of their money and mobile phones.
Two other members of the gang are still on the run, and efforts are underway to track them down, Nansel said.
Nasara Police Commissioner of Police Shetima Mohammed has urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to help combat crime in the state.
