Apostolic Faith Church pastor, Ogunmakinju, dies at 70

Pastor Vincent Olasehinde Ogunmakinju of the Apostolic Faith Church, Okuta Elerinla Branch, Akure in Ondo State, has passed away. He was aged 70. The cleric reportedly died in the early hours of Saturday, November 1, 2025.

News of his passing came as a rude shock to members of the Apostolic Faith Church across Nigeria and beyond. Many who heard the news were left in disbelief, asking: How? When? What happened? For those unaware that Pastor Ogunmakinju, fondly called Brother Makinju, had been briefly ill, the announcement was devastating. Yet, as many have since consoled themselves, God knows best.

Those who knew the late pastor described him as humble, simple, and deeply spiritual, a man without airs, whose life was defined by service and compassion. A long-time member of the church in Akure noted that Pastor Ogunmakinju was “a people’s pastor” who dedicated his time to the welfare and spiritual growth of others.

He was said to have lived a life of unwavering faith and devotion, impacting many through his ministry, counselling, and selfless service.

According to the family, funeral arrangements have been scheduled as follows:

Service of Songs: Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., Apostolic Faith Church Headquarters, opposite St. Michael High School, Ijoka Road, Akure.

Funeral Service: Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Apostolic Faith Church Headquarters Auditorium, Akure. May his soul rest in peace.
