APC Belgium calls for stronger Diaspora engagement during stakeholders’ meeting in Brussels

The Belgium Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) recently held its end-of-month stakeholders’ meeting in Brussels, bringing together party leaders, members, and stakeholders to review the progress of the party and discuss strategies for strengthening its activities in the diaspora.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of APC Belgium described the party as more than a political platform, emphasizing that it represents a movement driven by courage, reform, and determination to transform Nigeria. He noted that although members of the chapter are geographically distant from Nigeria, they remain politically connected and strategically relevant to the party’s growth and development.

The Chairman reaffirmed support for the leadership of Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that the administration’s reforms are bold steps aimed at securing a stronger future for the country. He encouraged members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to expanding the party’s influence while strengthening the structure of the APC Belgium chapter.

He further urged members to move beyond routine meetings by building visibility, influence, and impact for the party in the diaspora. According to him, history remembers participants who contribute actively to national development, not spectators.

Following the meeting, the Vice Chairman of APC Belgium also offered key advice and suggestions aimed at strengthening the party and promoting unity among members going forward. He emphasized the importance of continued discipline, cooperation, and commitment among members while encouraging them to work collectively to address internal challenges that may hinder the chapter’s growth.

The Vice Chairman also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress to put clear modalities and structures in place that will formally recognize and strengthen the participation of party members in the diaspora.

According to him, Nigerians living abroad continue to contribute significantly to national development through investments, advocacy, and international engagement. Establishing an organized framework for APC chapters outside Nigeria, he noted, would help harness these contributions more effectively.

Among the suggestions highlighted were the establishment of a formal diaspora directorate within the party’s national structure, the creation of clear guidelines for the recognition and coordination of APC diaspora chapters across different countries, and stronger engagement between the national leadership and diaspora members through regular consultations and policy discussions.

He also proposed that the party explore the possibility of diaspora voting participation in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as well as provide greater support for diaspora chapters to promote the achievements and policies of the APC government globally.

The Vice Chairman concluded by reaffirming APC Belgium’s loyalty and support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that with unity, proper coordination, and the inclusion of diaspora members, the party will continue to grow stronger ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting ended with renewed commitment from members to defend the party’s mandate, strengthen its structure in the diaspora, and advance the progressive ideals of the APC worldwide.
