Angry husband arraigned for allegedly burning wife’s property

An angry man, Andrew Otiri, has landed himself in court after he allegedly burnt his wife’s property.

Otiri, 45 year-old, was arraigned before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State.

His grouse, according to the charge sheet, was that his wife, Muyinoluwa, was allegedly involved in infidelity.

That anger has now caused him a felony and malicious damage counts.

The police prosecutor, Ayodeji Omoyeigha, said Otiri committed the act on July 6 at 8 p.m at No 22, Pamal Street, Igbodigo, Okitipupa in Okitipupa magisterial district.

The prosecutor listed the property Otiri allegedly set on fire to include bed, matress, four big coolers, clothing and shoes, all worth N236,000.

The prosecutor explained that the offense run contrary to sections 411, 412 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

Otiri, however, said, he was innocent of the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mosunmola Ikujuni, slammed a bail condition of  N500,000 with one surety in like sum who must present evidence of one year tax clearance.

The case was adjourned to September 30.
