Nigerian hurdler, Tobi Amusan, after earning the right to raise her shoulders for putting Nigeria on the world map and breaking the 100m hurdles’ world record twice got Nigerians talking with her latest gesture.
Amusan won the gold at the just concluded World Athletics Championship in Oregon, United States, running a stunning 12:12 seconds in the semi-final to obliterate America Keni Harrison’s 12:20 seconds record set 6 years ago.
She won the race ahead of Jamaica’s Britany Anderson who took silver in 12.23sec, and Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico who claimed bronze in 12.23, leaving Nigerians home and abroad buzzing with pride.
However, in a viral-video sighted online, Amusan was seen at the edge of the race track, shaking hands with people congratulating her.
