The visitors took the lead in the 59th minute through Mirani but Kudus restored parity in the 80th minute despite Rensch’s 35th minute red card.

The result left Ajax seven points adrift of leaders and bitter rivals Feyenoord and in fifth place on the log table.

Schreuder has not won a league game since October 22 and Ajax under him got knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage.

Announcing his sack on the club’s website, Ajax Chief Executive, Edwin van der Sar said:

“This is a painful decision, but it’s necessary. Regardless of the good start to the season, we lost a lot of unnecessary points.

“The football itself was precarious too. We gave Alfred our time and trust to change the way things were going.
