Aiyedatiwa: Servant-leader steadily driving Ondo forward

By Julius Alabi,  Akure

In Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the people of Ondo State have discovered more than a leader. They have found a servant with vision, courage, and an unwavering commitment to their progress.

From his earliest days in office, Aiyedatiwa has distinguished himself as a man who leads with both heart and purpose. To him, leadership is not about personal glory but about service, sacrifice, and the relentless pursuit of development for the common good.

Observers say his style of governance is marked by humility and decisiveness—a rare combination that has set him apart on the political stage. He listens intently, consults widely, and acts boldly, making choices that reflect both courage and compassion.

Across Ondo State, his footprints are becoming visible. Roads are being rehabilitated, schools are receiving attention, and healthcare services are expanding. For the youth, his empowerment initiatives offer renewed hope and opportunities for a brighter future.

What resonates most with the people, however, is his sincerity. In every action and policy, there is a clear sense that Aiyedatiwa is guided not by politics, but by the genuine desire to uplift lives. This has earned him respect across party lines and strengthened the bond between government and the governed.

“He is not just governing from Alagbaka,” one community leader noted. “He is walking with the people, feeling their pulse, and responding to their needs.”

Driving Digital Innovation

In line with his vision for an open, transparent, and technology-driven government, the Ondo State government recently announced the launch of its official and verified X (formerly Twitter) account, @OndoStateOnline.

The development was disclosed by the Chairman of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA), Hon. Tomide Akinribido, during a working visit to the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, and management staff of the ministry in Akure.

Akinribido explained that the account will serve as the central hub for government communications in the online media space, stressing that it aligns with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s determination to strengthen digital governance, enhance citizen engagement, and make policies more accessible to the public.

He further assured that the Ministry of Information would receive priority support in digital upgrades, including tools to boost its online media strength, upgrade the state’s communication architecture, and drive wider digitalization across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Highlighting future plans, the SITA boss disclosed that political office holders and senior government officials will soon be provided with personalized official email accounts to ensure efficiency, professionalism, and credibility in state communications.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, congratulated Akinribido on his appointment and described his assumption of office as “timely and strategic.” He emphasized the need for synergy between the ministry and SITA to deliver accurate, technology-driven information management to the people.

“We must work hand in glove to achieve a common goal in today’s media world. Our priority is to deepen the state’s social media presence so that government policies and activities are accessible to all,” Ajanaku stated.

The unveiling of @OndoStateOnline, therefore, underscores Aiyedatiwa’s broader agenda of transparency, improved governance, and deeper interaction with citizens through digital innovation.

A Leader in Step With the People

To many, the governor’s embrace of digital tools represents more than modernization—it reflects a leadership style rooted in accessibility and openness. Just as he consults with communities face to face, his government is now stepping closer to citizens in the digital space.

As Ondo State looks to the future, there is a growing conviction that under Aiyedatiwa’s watch, the dream of progress and prosperity is not just a promise, but a reality in the making as more dividends of democracy are expected from the governor.
