Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has urged her supporters to “remain calm”, despite reports that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has decided not to conduct primary elections for the FCT senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 elections.
The NDC chieftain appealed for decorum in a statement shared on her official social media page following the party’s decision.
According to Yesufu, the party will only conduct primary elections for House of Representatives positions within the FCT.
She went on to ask her supporters to focus on the bigger picture, which is the presidential election, saying, “Nigeria will be OK!”

Speaking via her verified handle, Yesufu said: “Our party has decided not to conduct primaries for the Senatorial seat in FCT Abuja. It however intends to conduct primaries for House of Representatives. Go ahead and make your choice known!
“I urge each and every one of you to remain calm and focus on the bigger picture, which is the presidential election. Nigeria will be OK!
“I appreciate all your support, dedication and commitment towards the #AishaForSenate project.
“In the coming week, I will be returning to all six Area Councils, God willing, to thank them for the warm welcome and continue to forge ahead for a #BetterFCT.”
