Agege LG lifts BRF/FFF U-17 Unity Cup

Agege Local Government has lifted the overall trophy of the second Babatunde Raji Fashola (BRF)/Football For Fun (FFF) Under-17 Unity Cup Football competition.

The LG at the weekend defeated Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) 2-0 at the final of the competition played at the Onikan Stadium, Victoria Island, Lagos.In his closing remarks at the final, chairman of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi, commended the standard of play by the players and thanked the organisers of the competition for helping to support grassroots football in the state.“This is a good competition in the right direction. It will help to support the state’s grassroots programme and we are happy to be part of it,”said Akinwunmi who presented the overall trophy to Agege LG.

Initiator of the competition, Olatunbosun Akande, expressed appreciation to the FA and all the teams that participated in the competition.He stressed that since the second edition surpassed the maiden edition, they will work hard in conjunction with the FA to make sure that the third edition will be unique.

 

Earlier before the final match, Ojo Local Government had defeated Awori LG 3-0 to win the third place match.Among the dignitaries that graced the closing ceremony is Hon. Monsuru Alao Owolabi of the National Assembly; Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi and his vice chairman, Tade Azeez.

 

Also present at the final was the Special Adviser to Governor Fashola on Football matters, Anthony Adeboye who represented the Governor at the ceremony.

Chairmen and officials of the two LG finalists, Managing Directors of financial Institutions, Commissioners of different ministry among others were also at the final.
