Movie star and writer Miriam Ogbonna has set tongues wagging on social media after claiming a man can only prove his love for her by spending money on her.
She made this known on Monday in a now-trending post shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) page.
According to the Nollywood thespian, a monetary gift is the only way a man can genuinely convey his affection for her.
She went on to state that she would never believe a man professing love to her until he backs such a pronouncement with financial favour.

She further noted that gifting a crush or lover money is a good way of expressing love because making money is difficult.
Taking to her verified handle, Ogbonna wrote: “If you don’t give me money, I will never ever ever agree that you like or love me.
“You have to give me money. Money is hard to come by. So, if you give me the money you suffered for, ehen, I will know that you like/love me.”
After the post made the rounds online, it elicited mixed reactions. While some netizens shared her opinion, many faulted her view, arguing that love should be expressed through genuine feelings rather than material wealth.
