Nigeria U-20 women team the Falconets, have arrived Edmonton ahead of their last group match against England at the ongoing 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The team flew to Edmonton on board Canada North Airline.
While at Edmonton the Falconets have continued with their daily routine training twice a day at the Jasper Place bowl.
Nigeria played its first two matches against Mexico and Korea Republic in Moncton before moving to Edmonton.
The Falconets are staying at Delta Edmonton South Hotels and Conference Center.
According to the Media Officer of the team, Elizabeth Kah, the team’s head coach, Peter Dedevbo said the girls need to keep training to maintain their physic.
“They are here in Canada to win the world cup, so i cannot relax on the win against Korea Republic. The English team is equally good to have qualified and thus the team must be adequately prepared. I want nothing less than a win against England”.
“I am happy the strategy used in the match against Korea worked, this time around am going to introduce a new style of play. I must commend the girls for their fearless fight, and am happy there are no injuries among the girls,” he said.
Falconets won their second match against Korea 2-1 and drew 1-1 against Mexico giving them four points.
England has two points, same with Mexico while Korea Republic sit at the bottom with one point.
The team needs at least a draw against England to top Group C and qualify for the knock out stage.
Nigeria’s last match comes up on Wednesday 6pm local time, 1am Nigeria time against England.
