Portugal came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory over Norway on Sunday night in a Nations League clash, but the game was overshadowed by an injury concern for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, who limped off during the second half.
With the defeat, Haaland and Norway have now suffered a third successive loss in the competition, while Portugal effectively booked their place in the last eight.
The hosts took a 36th-minute lead through Brentford defender Kristoffer Ajer, who controlled Martin Ødegaard’s cross on his chest before hitting a sweet half-volley into the top corner from the edge of the box.
However, two minutes later, João Cancelo smashed home a stunning shot on the bounce from a similar distance following Nuno Mendes’ long throw-in.

With 11 minutes left, Gonçalo Ramos scored a late winner for Portugal, stabbing in from close range following João Félix’s lay-off.
Although the defending Nations League champions ended the tie with 10 men following Francisco Conceição’s dismissal in the 87th minute, they held on for the win.
Earlier, in the 67th minute of the Group A4 tie, Haaland was replaced by Jørgen Strand Larsen after beckoning to the Norwegian bench that he needed to be substituted.
Manchester City will await further news on the striker—who has scored seven goals so far this season for his club—as they prepare for a Premier League trip to Liverpool on Sunday.
With two games left in the Nations League group stage, Portugal are six points clear of second-placed Denmark, who beat Wales 1-0, while Norway remain bottom of the table.
