Afrobeats star Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, has eulogised the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, after she showed off her dancing skills during his recent performance at the body’s Global Compact gathering in Lagos.
The ‘Oliver Twist’ hitmaker hailed the senior diplomat on Tuesday, September 22, in a now-trending post he shared on his verified Instagram page.
On the day, D’banj delivered a characteristically high-energy set that got the crowd moving and drew attendees onto the stage with him.
The moment quickly transformed into a burst of colour as the UN Deputy Secretary-General stepped onto the stage alongside several other women in vibrant traditional dress, turning the performance into something closer to a communal celebration than a concert set.

Dressed in traditional attire and a headscarf, Mohammed threw herself into the celebration, matching the festive energy with lively Afrofusion dance moves.
D’banj, who donned a traditional shirt and matching trousers, serenaded the group before joining them on the dance floor himself.
Taking to his verified handle after the show, D’banj shared footage from the night and expressed pride in sharing the stage with women he labelled “African Warriors”.
The singer directed his words especially at Mohammed, whom he further described as a mother figure to the group.
