Guimaraes was part of the Newcastle side that qualified for the Champions League in 2023 and 2025, before slipping to 12th place in the Premier League last season.

English Premier League (EPL) champions Arsenal have secured the services of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United in a deal worth £75m.
The 28-year-old left the Magpies’ training camp in La Manga, Spain, earlier this week to finalise his move to the Emirates Stadium following a breakthrough in talks.
Prior to that, he had made it clear to the Newcastle hierarchy that he wanted to join the North London outfit.
Speaking after completing the deal, Guimaraes, who has signed a four-year contract with the option of a further 12 months, called the move one of the “toughest decisions” of his life.

He added: “This move is very tough because Newcastle means so much to me. But I wanted to experience something new in my life. I feel ready for a new challenge for myself and my family.”
Guimaraes joined a Newcastle side in relegation trouble in January 2022 and went on to play a crucial role in their improvement in fortunes under head coach Eddie Howe.
The Brazilian became the first captain in seven decades to lift a major domestic trophy for Newcastle after they defeated Liverpool in the 2025 Carabao Cup final.
Newcastle, for their part, said they wished Guimaraes and his family well after he completed the move to Arsenal.
