England manager Thomas Tuchel has said he is not bothered by FIFA’s approval of Argentina’s request to don a navy blue strip for Wednesday’s World Cup semi-final.

The German tactician made this known recently when speaking to the press ahead of the last-four tie billed for the Atlanta Stadium.

Argentina have taken to the pitch in their usual light blue and white strip in all but one of their six opening matches at the tournament, only wearing the darker shade for their group-stage win over Jordan.

However, ahead of the game against the Three Lions, the Albiceleste made a ‘special request’ to FIFA asking to play in navy blue, which has now been approved.

Reacting to the decision of world football’s governing body, Tuchel suggested he “would have done the same” if it was deemed a “lucky shirt”.

He said: “Argentina play in blue? And we play in white? And that is because Argentina are superstitious, or it is a lucky shirt? They chose this?

“I would have done the same. If there was any superstition combined with it, I would have done the same.”
