Morocco, Argentina, six European teams jostle for places in World Cup semi-finals

​Morocco and France will kick off the tournament’s quarter-finals on Thursday at the Boston Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, US.

​Six European teams, African representatives Morocco, and South American giants Argentina will fight for places in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup, after the tournament’s Round of 16 was concluded on Tuesday.

​The European teams who qualified for the quarter-final matches—all of which will be played in the United States—include Spain, Switzerland, England, Norway, France and Belgium.

​Switzerland were the last team to book their spot after they beat Colombia 4-3 on penalties. The match had ended 0-0 after 120 minutes.

​They will face Argentina, who came from two goals down to see off Egypt 3-2 earlier in the day on Sunday, 12 July at the Kansas City Stadium (Arrowhead Stadium) in Kansas City, Missouri.

​Meanwhile, France and Morocco will kick off the quarter-finals on Thursday, 9 July at the Boston Stadium (Gillette Stadium) in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

​On Friday, 10 July, it will be the turn of Spain and Belgium to slug it out in an all-European quarter-final at the Los Angeles Stadium (SoFi Stadium) in Inglewood, California.

​A day later, on Saturday, 11 July, Norway and England will conclude the last-eight fixtures at the Miami Stadium (Hard Rock Stadium) in Miami Gardens, Florida.
