I’m not leaving APC for NDC, Ganduje insists

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed claims that he has defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting that he remains firmly committed to the ruling party.

The former Kano State governor also described himself as a principled politician, saying he is not a political opportunist or a vulture “flying from one tree to another” in search of personal gain or convenience.

Ganduje’s position was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his former Commissioner for Information and Chief of Staff, Muhammad Garba, in response to posters circulating on social media claiming he had dumped the APC for the NDC.

The statement characterised the posters as fake, malicious and politically motivated, alleging that they were deliberately created to misinform the public, sow confusion among APC supporters and fuel unnecessary political speculation.

According to Garba, Ganduje has remained unwavering in his loyalty to the APC and has never considered leaving the party, which he previously led as its National Chairman.

“It is not only false but also illogical for anyone to insinuate that Ganduje has joined the NDC; such a claim lacks both political and logical foundation,” the statement said.

Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje

Ganduje further maintained that the APC remains the country’s biggest and strongest political party, adding that it continues to gain wider acceptance nationwide while consolidating its position under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

The statement also accused political opponents of orchestrating the circulation of the fabricated posters in a bid to damage Ganduje’s image and create unnecessary tension within the ruling party.

It added that those behind the production and distribution of the posters had already been identified.

Ganduje warned that unless the individuals involved immediately withdrew the defamatory materials and stopped circulating them, legal proceedings would be initiated against them.
