British pundit and former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, has likened France captain Kylian Mbappé to Brazilian football legend Ronaldo, saying the forward reminds him of him.
He made his views known recently while commenting on Mbappé’s goals against Sweden in the World Cup Round of 32 on ITV.
The Paris Saint-Germain star scored twice as France defeated Sweden 3-0 at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Tuesday to qualify for the Round of 16 stage of the tournament.
With his brace, Mbappé is currently tied with Argentina’s Lionel Messi on six goals each in the race for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Golden Boot.

Reacting to the feat, Neville noted that the 27-year-old striker is “truly terrifying” when he gets into dangerous areas.
”Yes, I was watching Mbappé throughout the first half, and of course, we have seen him perform many times before,” he said.
Neville added: “He reminds me of Ronaldo from Brazil – when he gets into that area, he executes those subtle feints that are truly terrifying. I played against Ronaldo from Brazil three or four times.
”Today, Mbappé was being defended by Gyökeres, and against a player like that, you can only commit to one side; you have to desperately block his right foot and force him to shoot with his left.”
Mbappé will now hope to lead France to victory when they face Paraguay in the Round of 16 this weekend.
