Gospel singer Adeyinka Roseline Akinyemi, better known as Yinka Alaseyori, has come under fire after she seemingly defended how President Bola Tinubu handled the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in the Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The artist addressed the issue on Monday during an Instagram Live session while discussing the worsening security concerns in parts of the country.
In the clip, she made a case for President Tinubu and the armed forces, insisting that the government and security agencies are doing their best.
She further suggested that spiritual forces might be hindering the operations of security agencies searching for the kidnap victims.
While many Nigerians have continued to demand stronger action from the government, Alaseyori urged citizens not to overlook the role of prayer.
She said: “We need to pray. You can’t say the President and our armed forces are not working; they’re working. They might have sent security agents to the forest and something will just cover their eyes and won’t allow them to see the terrorists, that’s where prayers come in.”

After her comments made the rounds online, they immediately became a talking point across various social media platforms.
Many Nigerians expressed frustration over her remarks, arguing that families affected by kidnappings are looking for practical solutions and swift action.
Some critics also accused the singer of defending the government at a time when citizens should all be demanding accountability.
While blasting Alaseyori, a Nigerian identified as @Foxyblueu said: “Is she hustling for an appointment or what? Since when have we been praying for this Nigeria and what changes? How can she use this sensitive matter to fool around? What happened to the Chibok girls? Maybe our prayer for over 13 years ain’t enough?”
Another internet user, @artxygenishim, added: “Omo these people dey disgrace Christianity for real. What is this statement?”
@_korlarh also wrote: “No need to wish bad on your innocent children who didn’t approve of what you’re saying. I pray they kidnap you gangan so that someone else can come out to say we should just keep praying and accept the status quo.”
