Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has shared his thoughts on the relationship between wealth and depression, insisting that the former does not always cure the latter.
The movie star made his views on the topic known during a recent discussion with a fan on X (formerly Twitter).
It all began when a netizen claimed that those battling depression would be free of it if they only had enough money.
Speaking via a now-viral post, the X user claimed: “You’re not depressed, you just need 20 million Naira.”

Countering the argument, Egbuson said that contrary to the popular notion that money ends depression, it does not guarantee happiness.
The versatile thespian went on to point out that even wealthy people still get depressed.
Replying via his verified handle, he wrote: “It’s not always about money sha.”
Egbuson’s reply later elicited mixed reactions and sparked a deeper reflection on causes of depression other than lack and poverty.
While some Nigerians agreed that money cannot cure depression stemming from bereavement, anxiety, and other natural life events, others argued that a large number of people would be free from the condition if they had the funds to solve their financial problems.
