Olakunle Churchill, businessman and ex-husband of Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh, has counselled his wife, Rosy Meurer, against pursuing a divorce, arguing they were never legally married.

He made this known on Wednesday in a series of posts on his Instagram page while reacting to divorce documents shared online.

Earlier, Meurer had reportedly filed for divorce from Churchill following his recent reconciliation with his ex-wife, Tonto Dikeh.

Speaking on the purported divorce, the businessman said there was no basis for it, adding that his marriage to Meurer had no legal binding to require such a process.

He further noted that he only had an “introduction” with her and questioned the validity of the divorce documents and the expertise of her lawyer.

Churchill also denied being served any notice to that effect and claimed his partner is being wrongly advised.

He wrote: “What took place was an introduction. Therefore, the idea of a ‘divorce’ is baseless from the outset.

“The reports circulating online about a supposed divorce between myself and Roseline Meurer are completely false. There is no truth to them. There was no legally recognised marriage. There was no church wedding and no court wedding.

“Beyond that, any legitimate legal process requires that all parties be formally served and given the opportunity to respond. I was never served. So I ask a simple question: what exactly is being presented to the public, and how was it obtained?

“I am 100% sure that individuals without proper experience in the media space are advising Rosy incorrectly, alongside legal practitioners who operate under a mango tree without due process and claim to produce divorce documents within 24 hours.”
