Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has been cleared by world football’s governing body, FIFA, to play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

Okonkwo, who was born in England to Nigerian parents, is eligible to represent both countries at the senior level by virtue of his country of birth and his parents’ nationality respectively.

On Tuesday, the 24-year-old’s change of eligibility was formally updated on the FIFA platform for international player transfers.

This means Okonkwo is now eligible to feature for the Super Eagles in the upcoming friendlies against India and Jamaica in May.

He will also be in contention for two other international friendlies lined up for Nigeria against Poland and Portugal in June.
