The Technical Director of Abuja City Half Marathon, Olympian Yusuf Alli, popularly known as Skipo has informed that the race is expected to deliver a world-class record that will  strengthen its status.

He noted that the event has already distinguished itself in an extraordinary way after its debut edition. He highlighted the exceptional achievement of the race, insisting that, “the Abuja City Half Marathon sponsored  by a bank is the only marathon in our clime to get a label after just one edition. It’s fantastic, and it’s because of the structured, seamless organization of the event.”

As preparations intensify ahead of the December 6 race, the former long jumper and National record holder (8:27m) said the second edition will push standards even higher.

“With the second edition, we will go higher. We’re expecting a number of elite runners from around the globe within the top 300, including from Ethiopia and Kenya.”

He reaffirmed the organizers’ commitment to global best practices and technical integrity:

“We will have doping tests. We’ve carried out blue marking of the route and will conduct a road tour with the athletes when they arrive,” he said.

The December 6  Abuja City Half Marathon is expected to attract both elite and recreational runners, offering Abuja residents an opportunity to experience a celebration of athletic excellence, community spirit, and international sportsmanship.

The event’s growing status continues to position Nigeria’s capital city as a major destination for top-tier road races on the African continent.
