Real Madrid defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has stated he would show respect to his former club, Liverpool, should he score against them in the UEFA Champions League (UCL).

​The Reds are set to host La Liga giants, Real Madrid, in a UCL Group Stage fixture on Tuesday night at Anfield.

​Alexander-Arnold, who spent his entire career at Liverpool, surprisingly left the Premier League club during the summer transfer window to join the Los Blancos.

​Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated encounter between Madrid and Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold insisted that he would not celebrate if he were to score against his former side.

​“Real Madrid against Liverpool? Everyone kind of knew that this fixture was going to happen,” Alexander-Arnold said, as quoted by The Touchline on X.

​He added, “It was destined for that to happen. No, if I were to score, I wouldn’t celebrate. No.”

​Alexander-Arnold won several major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League, during his successful tenure at Liverpool.
