Lagos Police Command spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed that officers arrived at the scene, conducted a preliminary examination of the body, and “discovered that there were no visible marks of violence on the deceased, suggesting that no foul play was immediately suspected.”

Adebisi said the body was taken to the morgue for preservation while investigation commenced and the command established contact with the Canadian Embassy in Nigeria, through which a family member of the deceased was reached.

“The relative has since taken custody of the corpse for cremation,” she disclosed.

Vanguard quoted a worker in the hotel as disclosing that Sullivan checked in on October 2 and was discovered lifeless on the floor of his room in the early hours of October 7.

The man added that the chief security officer of the hotel reported the incident to the Victoria Island Police Division around 4.30pm after efforts to reach the guest failed.
