Senator representing Edo North senatorial district, Adams Oshiomhole, has urged former President, Goodluck Jonathan not to give in to pressure to contest the 2027 presidential election if he wants to retain his legacy.

He gave the advice while featuring as a guest on Channels Television programme, ‘Sunday Politics’.

According to the former Edo State governor, those who are urging the ex-president to throw his hat in the ring are his enemies.

He, however, added that the Bayelsa State-born politician will be defeated in 2027 by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) if he decides to contest.

Speaking during the interview, Oshiomhole said: “How can Jonathan be a threat? We defeated him before, when PDP was truly PDP. If a man had PDP at its peak, I think it is only his enemies that will push him into the ring.

“That may not be helpful to him. I think he has managed to demonstrate that out of power you can be relevant and really at peace.

“If I will be able to advise him, I will say ‘Sir, maintain this status’. If I were him I will spend the rest of my life trying to find relevance, which he has already found”.
