2027: If Obi can’t get it, let Tinubu continue
By Ishaya Ibrahim
A former chairman of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Sam Amadi, has argued that if a Nigerian with a clean slate like the Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, fails to get the coalition presidential ticket, President Bola Tinubu should be allowed to complete his second term.
Amadi, a policy strategist, law and governance expert, made the submission while reacting to the visit of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the South East for political engagements.
El-Rufai has been promoting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across the country, but there are fears that Obi may fail to clinch the ticket of the party ahead of the 2027 election.

For Amadi, if a clean slate away from the politics of ex-President Buhari and current president Tinubu can’t get the ADC ticket, it’s better to retain Tinubu because a stable incompetence is better than unstable incompetence.
He said: “My view is that in 2027 we should pivot far away from Tinubu. We need a clean slate. @PeterObi on a CLEAN slate is that pivot. If we cannot pivot away from Tinubu and Buhari, we should allow Tinubu to continue. Stable incompetence is better than unstable incompetence.”
