Nwabali set to face Rwanda, South Africa despite injury scare

Nwabali was on Friday named in Nigeria’s final 23-man squad for the games with Rwanda and South Africa.

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali will be in goal during upcoming crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda, and South Africa despite sustaining an injury in Tuesday’s league clash with Richards Bay.

The 29-year-old was stretchered off the pitch in the 35th minute of the encounter casting doubt on his availability for the qualifiers.

However, he miraculously returned to training and participated in a light session during Chippa United’s preparation for their next encounter on Friday night.

Nwabali  is expected to be in goal when the club take on Orlando Pirates in a South Africa Premier League clash at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.

He was on Friday named in Nigeria’s final 23-man squad for the games with the Amavubi, and Bafana Bafana.

He is expected to join his teammates in camp in Uyo after his club engagement.
