One of Nigeria’s 400m hurdler, Sunday Adeleye has declared for the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) presidency, saying he has all it takes to move athletics forward.
Declaring his interest in a telephone chat on Monday, Adeleye insisted that as former AFN Technical Director, he has the capacity to woo sponsors to the federation which he had done in the past as a member of the AFN board.
“See, I still remain the only one who brought a sportswear company to the federation. I have the template of how stakeholders can organize competitions while the federation give its support from behind”.
Adeleye who was one of former Sports Minister John Owan Enoh’s aide insisted that given the opportunity, he would change the fortune of track&field in the country.
“This is my formal declaration, I will speak more ahead of time. I’m a former athlete, a politician who knows how to galvanized situations and produce results better than other candidates,” he said.
He said that he is ready for the contest and would surely triumph on May 31st
