Deaf man files lawsuit against ex-lover over refusal to return savings
One Kuma Haruna, a man with hearing impairment, has sued a former lover to court for allegedly breaking her promise to marry him.
Haruna is also seeking the assistance of the Shari’a Court in Kaduna to recover N175,000 savings he kept with Malma Bilkisu which she allegedly refused to return.
Haruna’s brother Abubakar testified in court that his sibling had been saving money with Bilkisu for a long time but when he asked for it Bilkisu claimed she only had N80,000 – short of N175,000 Haruna calculated.
The case was previously taken to a Shari’a Court in Rigasa where Bilkisu presented N80,000 but Haruna refused to accept it.
The Judge in that case suggested both parties swear with the Quran but they failed to return to court.
The current case has been adjourned until March 17 when Bilkisu’s counsel will present her address.
Haruna is also seeking justice for Bilkisu’s alleged refusal to marry him as promised.
