As Chinua Achebe’s classic “Things Fall Apart” is set to have a TV adaptation, popular actor and producer Mike Nliam has urged Hollywood producers to consider giving talented Nigerian actors prominent roles in the series.

Without the collaboration of Nigeria and Hollywood, there wouldn’t be originality of African culture, Nliam asserts.

David Oyelowo is the executive producer of the Things Fall Apart series, while British actor Idris Elba plays the lead role of Okonkwo.

According to Nliam, “Let’s embrace this chance to showcase Africa’s rich storytelling and diversity, blending global and local perspectives. Inclusion will elevate the series’ cultural significance and resonance,’ the actor added.

“Things Fall Apart,” authored by Chinua Achebe is a part of the English literature course in many universities across the globe, and it has regularly featured in the top 100 novels list of all time.

The classic revolves around Okonkwo to be played by Elba, a warrior who takes it upon himself to preserve his tribe and culture of his people after British colonizers threaten to take things over. The iconic role was first played by Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie in the NTA adaptation of the 1987 all-time best-selling novel.
