The Chief Press Secretary disclosed that the Abia governor thanked the two commissioners for their service and sacrifice and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Ukoha Njoku, Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Governor Alex Otti, has said that the state commissioner for science and technology, Chima Oriaku, and that of agriculture, Prof. Monica Ironkwe, were not sacked but resigned their appointments.
Mr Njoku made this known in a statement on Wednesday titled, ‘Resignation of two Commissioners from the cabinet of Abia State Government’ following rumours the commissioners were sacked.
The Chief Press Secretary disclosed that the Abia governor thanked the two commissioners for their service and sacrifice and wished them well in their future endeavours.

He said, ”The following cabinet members of Abia State Government have tendered their resignation letters to the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti. They are: Mr. Chima Oriaku – Commissioner for Science and Technology, Prof. Monica Ironkwe – Commissioner for Agriculture.
“The Executive Governor thanked them for their service and sacrifice to the State and wish them well in their future endeavours.”
There have been shake-ups this year alone in Abia State Government. The Commissioner for Health, Ngozi Okoronkwo, was sent on an indefinite leave, the Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko, was removed and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Joy Maduka, was asked to retire compulsorily.
