BON Hotel mourns staff who died of heart attack following Ibadan explosion

BON said its late operations manager used his 25 years experience in the industry for the growth of the hotel

Management of BON Hotel Nest, has announced the death of the operations manager of its facility located in the Bodija area of Ibadan, where an explosion wrecked havoc on Tuesday night.

TheNiche has earlier reported a blast  which occurred at Dejo Oyelese close, Bodija Housing Estate in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, claimed the lives of some residents while several others were injured.

Property worth millions of naira were also destroyed while hundreds of people were displaced as a result of the incident.

Announcing the demise of its manager,
Tunde Solomon on Friday, BON Hotel, whose facility is located a few metres from the scene of the blast, revealed that he suffered a heart attack as a result of the explosion.

The management of the hotel who made this known in a statement, went on to describe the deceased as a selfless and dedicated staff. 

It further stated that the late operations manager used his 25 years experience in the hospitality industry for the growth of the organization.

The statement read: “We regret to inform you of the sudden passing of our beloved Operations Manager, Mr.Tunde Solomon. Mr. Solomon suffered a heart attack on the 17th of January 2024 and it is believed that was a consequence of the explosion which occurred on the 16th of January 2024 at Bodija.

”Mr. Tunde Solomon was a vastly experienced member of staff with more than 25 years in the industry. His commitment to his role and his contributions to the growth of BON
Hotel Nest Ibadan and the BON group in general during his tenure were invaluable.

”His loss leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working alongside him. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Solomon’s family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate through this challenging period.”
