Speed Darlington’s manager, Goskey, has taken to social media to lament the working conditions he allegedly endured during his time working with the musician.

His comments come some days after Speed Darlington’s boxing match with internet personality Carter Efe, from which the musician walked away with ₦30 million after he lost.

Addressing the issue, Goskey clarified that he was no longer working with Darlington at the time of his post. He expressed gratitude for their four-year working relationship and the opportunities he received, despite the alleged challenges he faced.

However, Goskey accused Darlington of preferring an assistant he could “intimidate”,  rather than one who was willing to create opportunities for him.

He claimed that despite connecting Speed Darlington with clients and influential people, he never received anything higher than N250,000 irrespective of the fees Darlington received.

He also alleged that he often had to cover certain work-related expenses out of his own pocket without compensation from Darlington.

“When he was arrested, I was there for him. I had to go back-to-back to Abuja. I bought clothes for him and many other things. The dollars he asked me to hold for him were misplaced. Someone can testify to that. I had to go to Alausa to buy it back for him with my money because I knew he wouldn’t want to hear anything”

Goskey said that Darlington had paid him only ₦250,000 out of the ₦30 million reportedly earned from the boxing match with Carter Efe, despite handling many things to make the match successful.

According to him, he initially received ₦200,000, and only got a ₦50,000 addition after an intervention from Darlington’s elder brother

“250,000 naira. Not even one percent. Nor even one million naira. At first he sent me 200,000 naira, then I talked to his elder brother. And later he sent me 50,000 naira extra,” he said

Beyond the salary, Goskey expressed disappointment over what he described as a lack of appreciation after four years of working with him.

“Even if I don’t have a contract with you, does it mean that you keep me like trash?” he asked.

He said that oftentimes, the singer would ask him to take the night bus for a show, despite receiving fees covering both of their flight tickets.

He further connected his alleged experience with the treatment of other staff members working for the musician, citing the example of a housekeeper who allegedly left the job due to the working conditions.
