Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his adept defense of Nigeria’s democracy in the wake of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the state’s gubernatorial election.

He commended the president for resisting overwhelming public pressure and standing firm to uphold the people’s mandate, even amidst a colossal crowd in Kano.

The candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the incumbent governor emphasized that the judiciary’s reputation received a significant boost with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn his dismissal by the tribunal and Court of Appeal.

Governor Yusuf asserted that certain individuals harbored intentions to hijack the hard-earned mandate of the Kano people. In light of this, he extended his appreciation to the Justices of the Supreme Court (JSCs) for upholding justice in their ruling, preventing the state from encountering “unforeseen circumstances.”

This acknowledgment highlights the governor’s gratitude for the crucial role played by both President Tinubu and the Supreme Court in safeguarding the democratic process in Kano.

According to Yusuf, “We thank the justices for the judgment because if not for the fair judgment they delivered, we would not have known what would have happened. The verdict has redeemed their image.”
