Abaribe argued that the release of the IPOB leader will bring about national unity and cohesion

Abia South Senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has said he believes that President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government will free the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu soon.
Abaribe made this known in a recent statement, where he argued that the release of Kanu will bring about national unity and cohesion.

The IPOB leader has been incarcerated since he was arrested in Kenya and brought back to Nigeria to face charges bothering on terrorism.
Although the Appeal Court discharged and acquitted him of the charges, the Supreme Court in a recent ruling upturned the judgment and ordered a retrial by the Federal High Court.

However, Abaribe, while speaking on the development expressed hope that the IPOB leader will be freed by President Tinubu soon.
He also promised that South East leaders would vigorously pursue a political solution that could ultimately set him free.
The former Senate Minority Leader said: “I’m of the firm belief that this current Federal Government will do something very fast to release Nnamdi Kanu, if for no other reason, but for national cohesion and unity of the country.
“As leaders, we shall continue to press for a solution that will be the best in the circumstance”.
