Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has told the North London club to make £80million rated Brentford striker, Ivan Toney the outfit’s top target when the January transfer window opens.

The leathered English striker is set to return to football action in January after serving eight-month ban for breaching the Football Association’s rules on betting.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are open to strengthening Arteta’s squad in the January transfer window.

The Gunners have found goals hard to come by this season as their main striker, Gabriel Jesus has scored just 3 Premier League goals so far, while his back up, Eddie Nketiah has netted 5 times in the league.

But Financial Fair Play, FFP, regulations could heavily restrict their activity.

However, according to The Independent, Arteta wants Arsenal’s hierarchy to prioritise a move for a new striker in January in a bid to improve the Gunners’ chances of winning their first Premier League title since 2004.

Arsenal will face Fulham at the Cottage on Sunday afternoon, they currently sit 4th on the PL log table despite topping the league at Christmas.

They could, however, return to the summit of the league with a win in the encounter before the leaders, Liverpool host Newcastle on Monday night.
