The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the 2023 election, Isah Ashiru, are challenging the victory of Uba Sani, the incumbent governor of Kaduna State.

They are also challenging the Kaduna State Governorship Election Tribunal which dismissed the petition against the victory of Uba Sani in September. The Tribunal had ruled that the pre-hearing notice was filed out of time, otherwise it would have ordered rerun in some polling units across three local governments.

The PDP alleged that Sani’s votes in some of the local governments in Kaduna were inflated to cover for his deficits.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared that Sani secured 730, 001 votes to defeat his closest rival Ashiru of the PDP, who scored 719, 196 votes. The margin of lead was a little over 10,000 votes.
