The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 general election, Peter Obi, has attributed the voter apathy noticed during Saturday’s governorship and state house of assembly elections to the outcome of the presidential election.
Obi, who voted at his Amatutu polling unit in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State at about 11.20 am, said he observed voter apathy and “transactional politics” unlike the February 25 presidential polls.

The former Anambra State governor asserted that voters did not come out en masse for the gubernatorial election because the result of the last poll did not reflect their wishes.
He said: “The electorate were discouraged to come to vote because of what happened in the last poll that did not reflect the people’s wish.”
Obi who has said he is heading to the election tribunal to reclaim his mandate also condemned a situation where politicians buy votes and try to win elections at all costs.
