Calvert-Lewin a doubt for Arsenal game, says Dyche

Calvert-Lewin has not played a game since he was forced off just after the hour mark during Everton’s 1-0 win over Arsenal earlier this month

Everton Manager, Sean Dyche has said England striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, is unlikely to be available for Wednesday’s Premier League tie with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Three Lions forward has struggled with injury issues this season, and as a result, he has been restricted to just 11 English Premier League (EPL) appearances.

Calvert-Lewin started the 1-0 win over Arsenal earlier this month, but he was forced off just after the hour mark and has not played a game since then.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Sean Dyche started off with a brief injury update with striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin still out and likely no squad changes as James Garner and Nathan Patterson remain out.

Asked about how his recovery was going, Dyche was terse, saying “He’s recovering” and when pushed further about if he could provide a timescale, he responded “No”.

Having registered just 17 goals in 24 games, Everton are the lowest scorers in the Premier League this season, and they will be desperate for Calvert-Lewin to return to provide some much-needed firepower.

The Toffees, who are one point adrift of safety, will be looking to claim their first away victory since October when they face Arsenal tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, Arsenal who won their last two league matches will go into the match with huge confidence after their 1-0 defeat of Leicester kept them 2 points clear at the top of the Premier League table after 24 games.

A win against Everton in their outstanding match will take them 5 points above their nearest rival, Manchester City who are just two points behind them.
