Elliott was guilty of allowing a pass which led to Brentford’s second goal go through his legs during the encounter in London on Monday

Liverpool legend, Michael Owen has singled out Harvey Elliott for blame for his role in the build-up to Brentford’s second goal of Liverpool’s Premier League 3-1 loss at the Community Stadium on Monday night.
Brentford despite losing their main striker, Ivan Toney, began the match the brightest, forcing Ibrahima Konate to score an own goal which gave Thomas Frank’s side the lead in the 19th minute.
The Reds then rode their luck twice when Yoane Wissa’s goals were ruled out by VAR for offside. He, however, found the net on the third attempt and gave the host a well-deserved cushion.

Elliott had let a pass go through his legs while attempting a dummy, hoping his teammates would get the ball. The mistake eventually led to Brighton’s second goal of the night.
Owen, who was not pleased with Elliott’s display, while talking to HITC chastised the Liverpool youngster for his role in the goal.
The former Real Madrid attacker said Elliot shouldn’t have attempted what he did knowing they just got lucky with a disallowed goal.
He said, “This is straight after a disallowed goal. I don’t know for the life of me in your third what Harvey Elliott is doing there? Letting the ball go between his legs.
“He can’t have shouted. It was never ever on. Then, all of a sudden, they get outnumbered at the back post and it is 2-0 and a mountain to climb.”
